    Description

Boris Fedorovich Godunov (1552-13 [23] April 1605) - boyar, brother-in-law (brother of the wife) of Tsar Fedor I Ioannovich, in 1587-1598 the actual ruler of the state, from 17 (27) February 1598 to 13 (23) April 1605 - the first Russian tsar from the Godunov dynasty
In 1598, after the death of the last representative of the Rurik dynasty, Boris Godunov, who actually ruled the state since 1584, became tsar. Godunov was not a direct heir (Fedor was married to his sister), but he managed to promote his nomination without the use of violence. Under Boris Godunov, only pennies were minted (by the Moscow, Novgorod and Pskov monetary yards). The same stamps could be used in different mints. The date was put only on Novgorod coins and on one version of the Pskov ones. At the very beginning of the reign, kopecks were minted with the name of Fedor without specifying the date and with the date 1599 (РЗ), they are shown in the section of coins of Fedor Ivanovich.
